Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
As all of you may be sure, Friday marked the beginning of attitude week. Since early August, I had been counting down the days until September 5, 2008 had begun, because it was the day I would frequent the Academy of Art University's Fashion Show.
At almost 7:30 my cousin, sister, a fellow, and myself, entered the legendary tents of Bryant Commons. After snacking on raspberry M&Ms and petit ecoliers while on thread, we finally were allowed in. A few minutes after we sat, Nigel Barker, popular fashion photographer, entered the space and was quickly swarmed by hordes of teenage girls, while their mummy's snapped pictures. Of all the times not to have a camera! After was seemed biography a lifetime of waiting the show began. Eleven assemblage by fifteen graduates, were presented. Unfortunately, I cannot find pictures from the menswear collections, but I would like to say that designers Jaime Cole, Eric Tan, and Ali Khan along with textile architect Sook-yeong Kwon, presented astounding collections.
Elena Akoulova's anthology of linen dresses was inspired by orchids, which was free. What amazed me about this collection, was that the designer never entered a formal level and completed her entire study of work online. 
The next collection was by Tara Bradley, and was inspired by the artificer's dance background. During the presentation, a mock-up lost her heels, and almost fell. The next exemplar out took of her shoes, as a way to say that the previous mould's near meeting with the floor was okay, which was sharp-witted and met by a cheerful applause.
Joahanna Hatzenbuehler's eco-kind collection was inspired by Iguancu waterfalls in South America. The deviser utilized patchwork and sequins throughout her chrestomathy to represent falling water.
Anne Jones collaborated with textile deviser Michelle Clarke in her collection. The aspiration was for the plastic to represent stained glassware.
Desiree Daniels' simple anthology was inspired by suspension bridges. It featured without a stitch on and silver as a color palette.
Warot Subsrisunsinjai's collecting was my favorite. The Thailand born inventor collaborated with sculptor and accessories artificer Mike Feeney to form his hoard. Feeny's acrylic additions to the assemblage added an architectural interest and made the collection unreservedly unique.
Daniel Emir Armosilla's anthology was definitely a fan favorite, as the crowd went crackers for it during the finale. The collection was inspire by California living, but I see a pygmy Africa as well.
Kara Laricks' gleaning was another of my favorites. She stated that it was inspired by waking up on Sunday morning and drinking coffee in your boyfriend's dress shirt, which it assuredly evoked in the best way possible. Although it was one of the simplest, it was also one of the most intriguing collections of the night.
Overall, the show was surprising, the collections were stunning, and the noted manner photographer was just as attractive looking in herself as he is one TV. Until my next post, ciao!
