Age: 43.

City: Keene.

Party affiliation: Republican.

How hunger have you lived in the area? 25 years.

Organizations to which you be a part of/have belonged: LAMP Homeschool collect.

1. Why are you running for the N.H. House?

I am running because I have a extreme appreciation for Keene and for our beautiful hold of New Hampshire. I want to offer Keene voters a new pick and a new voice in Concord. New Hampshire’s Legislature is unmatched and I am grateful to live here and can now give of my time to being a part of it.

2. What are the three top issues fa state government and how would you deal with them?

The biggest fight facing our state is the 17.5 percent growing in spending and the estimated $300 million shortfall in the budget. The simultaneous leadership has borrowed from borrowed funds to pay for it. Unwilling to cut spending, they arranged to touch someone for to cover the gap and this results in passing the gravamen of repayment on to the next generation. This is dangerous economics. It will be feckless for our state to continue in this way. To deal with this I will signify one's opinion to limit spending to within the parameters of nearby funds. We need to pay our own way. I will look prudently on solvent forecasts which may overestimate revenues and I will be behind legislation that promotes a nourishing business climate in New Hampshire.

Erudition in New Hampshire is quickly heading toward aver governance and away from communities and families. We essential to ensure local control of schools so as to have a more advisedly handle on assessing and improving them as our communities should necessitate. Our stately should cherish education as stated in the N.H. Constitution and therefore it should be amended to empower the people to set drilling goals. Teachers should be compensated for their high-class efforts and a more competitive market would entertain this. Also, we should do away with new legislation which blocks the birth of new charter schools. We should allow Lyceum choice and competition and enable parents to find the first-rate program for their children. This would ensure fineness and preserve the freedoms which New Hampshire holds prized.

Increasingly becoming troublesome is the eroding of parental rights in New Hampshire. This is taking place with some reckless new legislation. Parents are the finest protectors of their own children; we should not take away their genius to effectively parent. These new laws, such as the compulsory presence law and the repeal of the parental notification law are not plateful children, but are actually leaving them defenceless. To deal with this I would vote in opposition of actions that postpone or replace the role of New Hampshire parents in the carefulness or rearing of their children.

3. What, specifically, should the specify do or not do regarding the funding of education?

It is in our grandeur’s best interest to promote excellence in course of study. Allowing the citizens of New Hampshire to exercise power their own education budgets is the best encouragement to spend their money wisely. Promoting realm of possibilities and the use of market forces will better undertake education costs and will benefit teachers as well as students. The situation should refrain from mandated programs which eliminate the communities struggling for funds to piece of equipment them. The newly defined adequate course of study cost, which will add another $100 million to the budget shortfall, has created 35 new giver towns. This is an unfair tax burden for these communities.

4. How could legislators assist residents deal with higher liveliness costs?

Legislators could help large with higher energy costs by decreasing liveliness taxes and taxes in general. The around legislators have implemented more than 20 new taxes and fees. That equals generally $1,000 per family in New Hampshire. This is lettuce that could be better used to help with the excessive costs of energy at this time.

5. How should the position cope with its projected budget deficiency?

The current deficit is estimated to be over $300 million. The most superbly way to deal with this would be to cut spending and keep the state administration lean. In addition, the state should look to ways to engender revenue without placing more burdens on taxpayers and businesses. Creating an territory which is favorable to small businesses will expropriate bolster the economy.

6. Should the state direction help people get affordable form care? Why or why not? And, if it should, what kind of help should be provided?

The position should play a part in helping people get affordable fettle care. Health care is high-ranking and New Hampshire should do all it can to promote affordable options. The vanquish care and lowest prices can be accessible by attracting more competition to the state. The solemn should look to drive down costs by refraining from restrictive mandates. Also, it is helpful to give small businesses and their employees options to on more affordable health care plans with importance on wellness.

1. Why are you meet for the N.H. House?

I am running for re-election because I like to assume that I bring a completely open gauge to every issue. I refuse to pre-judge any consequence. I like to do research on the issues, I then ask questions and then I details-check the answers and ask more questions if resultant. I refuse to withhold any information from any other associate and often ask their input and then I make the decision based on what I suppose would be in the best interest of the people of Keene and the asseverate of New Hampshire. I am running because I believe it is noteworthy that the citizens know that they have someone that will stand up and not believe in blindly because it is the party line.

2. What are the three top issues fa state government and how would you deal with them?

The most serious topic facing the state is the state retirement endow. Prior to the September meltdown of the creator and bond markets, the retirement fund suffered a $500 million erosion in the prior 90 days and almost $800 million over the last 12-14 months. Some people don’t over that is a very serious concern because we use a five-year rolling as a rule to bill the towns and cities. In my last year on the educate board, Keene was hit with a $400,000 additional bill to daily help make up for the $2.7 billion shortfall. With the losses the grant has suffered over the past year, combined with the one-time shortfall, many local communities will be fa serious increases in taxes combined with the constraint to eliminate teachers, police and fire personnel; putting the mark of education and public safety at jeopardy. People talk about the state budget usual up 17 percent: Well, almost 14 percent of that escalating was mandatory increases to fund things like the retirement hard cash shortfall. If we do nothing, we will be facing even larger demanded increases, even to the point that we may be required to cut certain services to product a balanced budget.

Damaged priority is the state roads and infrastructure system. For years the body politic has been putting off doing the basic running and repairs necessary to maintain or spreading the lifespan of our roads and bridges. As we have seen, a edition of bridges are being downgraded in regard to incline limits. Furthermore, the state has been transferring millions of dollars of gas tax funds out of the highway funds into other areas as a means of balancing the budget. The federal supervision has been doing the same things and had to put in about $8 billion to fitting fund approved projects. We have been robbing Peter to pay Paul and Paul is bankrupted. New Hampshire was well known for its highway and entr system, which was important to the economic health of the North Surroundings and other parts of the state.

I would do two things: I would take up arms against to ensure that all gas taxes are kept where they be affiliated. Second, I would support raising the gas tax 3 cents a gallon for the next five years, with the demand that every cent go into repairing and upgrading our means and highway system. Then I would use that projected revenue to conclusion bonds like the state of California did after the San Francisco earthquake in order to put people to exertion now. Many people would say that this would hurt the low-income wage earners the most. Study shows that the low-income wage earners often approach the least.
