Kia ora! (see comment earlier from Markus for translation)

It’s another pulchritudinous day in NZ. Ok, it’s not so beautiful today, it’s actually soul awful - rainy and windy and glacial - jihuu! But we had a couple (one and a half) very minute, sunny days in the weekend so can’t very complain. It was still quite cold but the when the sun appears, it makes a domain of difference.

Those of you who don’t know the full story of our being there, here it is in apart from. Alexei is writing a PHD and he had some contacts in the provincial university and came here to work for 6 months. And I’m here perfectly as a free rider:) Luckily I got some term of from work and I’m trying to work as a translator here sending translations to Finland. It is a certain extent interesting to do what I’ve actually studied and also - NZ didn’t give me any preference. A working visa to NZ? No way!

I’m been working on some trial translations since we came and there has been more work in them than I expected so couldn’t in the final analysis relax even during the weekend, had to translate.  But now they are done and I’m unrestrained of them. Now I’m just waiting for the news if the prominence is ok or not. I’m really rusty!

We are still waiting for the jet lag to outmoded but so far it hasn’t. Our days consist of a unite of hours of “activities” (like prosperous for a beer and some thai food:), then coming hospice and sleeping for 3-4 hours (valid can’t help it!), then again doing something (like accepted for a beer and some thai food:)), hanging in the internet until 2 o’clock in the Stygian and then sleeping again for a couple of hours. We keep waking up at 6 every morning…

Well, quite the rhythm will change now that Alexei has started working. It was his first day yesterday! He was shown the campus by a Maori critic (who promised to invite us to some annual Maori appointment with Maoris all over the country gathering together - sounds compelling, I hope he actually will invite us), shown his margin and stuff. He likes it there, place is ok and people tranquil and nice (like everywhere). They have a good library there as well. He didn’t get to start working in fact yet though (some passwords missing..) but on Tuesday then dialect mayhap.

On Saturday we went to see this huge museum complex they have here called Te Papa, the public museum on New Zealand.  The point was full of families with children and the exhibition was also at least partly directed to children - so it was soft enough to comprehend even for us:) It seemed to be a family day on the whole, they had a concert as well for families in the museum with the jingoistic orchestra of New Zealand presenting some authoritative pieces. Since it was free we got to enjoy some traditional music as well. There was some quite interesting overeat about the history of the country and the Maoris as well as some Heureka dash exhibitions of the earth, nature, animals etc. The Goliath wail skeletons were nice!

My fathom today! Ok, a year ago

Enjoying the ride out outside Te Papa - you can see the town behind me can’t you?

Enjoying the NZ climate

And then the sun appeared - hurray!

Wellington suburbs

On Sunday we had an amazingly ravishing sunny day. We decided to try some healthy vital spark style (instead of all the thai grub and beer) and went for a jog first thing in the morning! We  found this slight park nearby on the map and decided to go there. And so we started unceasing - up the hill - and we ran - up the hill - and then ran some more - up the hill. Done we walked up the hill… The hill was amazingly momentous and we were completely wiped out on top but the views were astounding. An the trip up there was really nice as well (if you lose about the fact that most of the time we felt like on one's deathbed…), it was like a real jungle with leviathan trees, strange plants and animals. Remarkable indeed. An then we headed for the town… Hmmm, so what are the intelligence today? Hmm, so what\'s the news today?

We wanted to have a look around the hamlet since it wasn’t raining for once so we hopped in the Wellington strand car and went up the hill to the botanic gardens which were amazingly smashing (see the photo coverage below - I just couldn’t not take photos:)

Towards the mountain tops we go!iEnjoying the views from the cable car

And this is all reason here in the centre! And then in the end of the day there was of course some beer and thai prog:)
